You can apply custom URL (GET) parameters to your survey if you need to collect more detailed data. Examples of this can be connecting an order ID, customer ID, country, customer name, etc. with each survey response.

Each URL parameter is applied per survey (not per account), and you can use an unlimited number of URL parameters.

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu in the survey editor and click on Advanced settings on the left-hand side of your screen.
  2. Find the option Custom GET parameters and enable the switch.

  3. Add the parameters you need – new data fields will be created as you type.

After the parameters have been created, you must append them as a suffix to your survey’s URL address. While it’s possible to do this manually, we recommend that you team up with a colleague who is familiar with working with this type of data, so that they can automate the process for you. This will let you collect the data you need without spending hours manually editing your survey’s URL addresses.

In the examples below, we’ve created three URL parameters for a customer satisfaction survey: custid, orderref, and source. If used in a real setting, it would let us to track each respondents’ feedback to our NPS survey, allowing us to get in touch with any unhappy customer.

Even if your survey's URL address is personalized or left as is, you need to add a
question mark - ? after it, followed by your URL parameters separated by an ampersand - &.

When the respondent answers your survey using a personalized URL with parameters, their responses along with the parameters will be visible in the overview of individual responses, and in the downloadable Excel and Google Sheets documents.

Responses with custom URL parameters can also be filtered using our built-in response filtering feature.

Please note that URL parameters are only included in our paid plans.
